The Institute of Development Management (IDM) took part in the recent Francistown Mayor’s Walk held under the theme: “Walk for Humanity, Know Your City.” It brought together various stakeholders in the second city, promoting public health, hygiene, and human dignity while empowering communities to lead healthier lives.
As an institution offering a Bachelor of Public Health, IDM supports access to clean and safe sanitation, which is vital to disease prevention and the overall well-being of society.
The initiative aligns to the core principles of IDM’s Public Health programme, which emphasises environmental health, disease prevention, and community wellness.
The event also encouraged teamwork, wellness, and civic participation among IDM staff and students.
“IDM demonstrated its continued commitment to improving community health and living standards through active engagement and social responsibility. Our participation affirms our commitment and support to the betterment of the lives of the communities within which we operate,” said Elijah Moakofhi, IDM Francistown Campus Manager.
Proceeds from the Walk will go towards installing water-borne toilet systems for the less privileged in Francistown, as part of the Mayor’s effort to give back to the community and improve living conditions.
