Course Objective: As part of its mandate to improve the managerial knowledge, skills and attitudes of employees charged with senior and middle management responsibilities in the public, parastatal and private sectors, The IDM HRM degree programme aims to generate a competent cadre of human resource practitioners operating within the supervisory, middle and senior levels of management. The programme is designed to equip learners with the necessary skills that are essential in supervising and managing employees within the work environment. The Degree focuses on the operational and strategic functions of human resource management. It also provides participants with business knowledge and skills that will enable them to strategically function as HR business partners and as such add value that is much needed by organizations operating in today’s competitive, global and dynamic business environment.

Target Group: The target audience for this programme is Senior and Principal HR Officers, Human Resource Managers, Supervisors, Administrators, Project Managers.

Minimum requirements

Minimum Requirements

•A Diploma in Human Resource management at NCQF VI, Certificate in Human resource management with minimum credit value of 240 or equivalent.
•Certificate V NCQF level 5 ( or equivalent)
•There will be provision for RPL and CAT admission according to the National RPL and CAT policies
•Certificate IV, NCQF level 4 (General Education)
•Candidates with Diploma (level 6) in a related field may be considered through Recognition of Prior Learning in accordance with applicable policies.

Formative assessment (40%)

The contribution of formative assessment to the final module grade is 40%.

Summative assessment (60%)

Candidates will undergo assessment including written final examination for each module which contributes 60 % of the final module grade for that course.

Legibility to summative assessment are:

•Candidates should at least attend 80% of scheduled classes
•Candidates should pass formative assessment a module.
Research methods will be assessed through a research proposal complete with ethical clearance package at a weightage of 100%.

Research Project is developed from research methods and proposal and that will assessed at a weightage of 100%.
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL).

There shall be provision for award of credits towards the qualification through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) in accordance with institutional Policies in line with the National RPL Policy.
