Description
This course strengthens community development workers’ understanding of entrepreneurship so as to give better support to groups and individuals who are involved in income generating projects. Community development specialists are not expected to be business experts, and in many instances will not have sufficient technical knowledge about a specific business activity to give effective advice. The strength of the community development specialist in economic empowerment is the use of participatory planning methodologies, facilitating access to information, and linking community groups with those that have the appropriate business and technical expertise. The training will strengthen participants’ understanding of the principles of entrepreneurship and the processes involved, providing them with basic skills to support enterprise development.
